General Rules for a new tattoo...
- Keep tattoo covered with the dressing until morning.
(if you’d like to shower, then you can unwrap the tattoo,
wash gently with warm water and antibacterial soap, then pat dry and re-wrap the tattoo with saran wrap until morning) - In the morning, wash as just described and don’t re-wrap the tattoo.
- Wash hands and apply skin moisturizer (like Lubriderm) to the tattoo several times a day. Do not use ointments like Neosporin or A&D. Moisturizer is all you’ll need.
- On the second night before you go to sleep. Wrap the tattoo with saran wrap one more time until morning.
- From that point on, just use skin moisturizer for the next few weeks.
- The tattoo should peel like a sunburn in about a week.
